408 aid workers killed since start of Israeli occupation aggression on Gaza – UNRWA Commissioner-General

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said the number of aid workers killed in the Gaza Strip as a result of the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression since October 7, 2023, has reached 408.Lazzarini posted on X that the killing of two other UNRWA employees, eight from the Palestine Red Crescent Society, and first responders brings the number of aid workers killed in Gaza since the start of the war about a year and a half ago to 408, including 280 from UNRWA.The body of UNRWA colleague, who was killed in Rafah, was found along with the two Palestinian Red Crescent aid workers. They were all dumped in shallow graves, a grave violation of human dignity. They were aid workers, whether on the front lines or in their homes with their families. Civilians must be protected at all times, he said. The UN official stressed the need to protect civilians at all times and ensure accountability for violations. He emphasized that targeting or endangering emergency responders, journalists, or relief workers is a blatant and gross disregard for international law.
