EU ready to cooperate with new Syrian government

The EU has welcomed the new Syrian government formation, expressing its readiness to cooperate with it to help it address the enormous challenges ahead. In a statement, the EU called for the fulfillment of the aspirations of the Syrian people, as recently affirmed at the nineth Brussels Conference on 'Standing with Syria: Meeting the Needs for a Successful Transition', stressing its unwavering support for a Syrian-led and Syrian-owned transition process that is peaceful and inclusive of all components of society. It added that the process launched at the Syrian National Dialogue conference held last February will play a crucial role in achieving national reconciliation. It called on all external actors to fully respect Syria's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while condemning any attempts to undermine the country's stability and its prospects for a peaceful and inclusive political transition.
