The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor reported that Israeli occupation forces killed or injured more than 600 Palestinians near three aid distribution points set up in areas under its absolute control in Gaza Strip – within just one week – highlighting the deadly risks these sites pose to civilians. In a press statement issued today, the Monitor expressed deep concern over the international community's silence regarding Israel's escalation of what it described as a genocide that has been unfolding for nearly 20 months in Gaza. The organization called for an immediate end to the Israeli-run aid distribution mechanism, which it said has become a site for the summary execution of Palestinian civilians. It also criticized the system for lacking even the most basic humanitarian standards, urging a return to the previous United Nations-coordinated mechanism to ensure the safe and smooth flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza's residents. The Monitor further urged all relevant states and entities to exert maximum pressure on the Israeli occupation government to halt its efforts to bypass and dismantle the work of UN agencies experienced in humanitarian operations in Gaza. It emphasized the crucial, neutral role of these organizations in delivering lifesaving assistance to over 2.2 million Palestinians who are facing hunger and death in the besieged territory. (QNA)
