Floods leave at least 62 killed in DR Congo

At least 62 people have died in floods that struck the Fizi territory of South Kivu Province in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).According to a provisional toll, torrential rains that struck the area from Friday to Saturday caused flash floods in the locality of Kasaba, destroying approximately 150 homes. Thirty people were injured, and several others remain missing.The provincial government expressed deep concern over the heightened risk of waterborne diseases, respiratory infections, and malnutrition amid ongoing heavy rains.Heavy rains across Africa have become more intense and frequent due to rising temperatures, according to UN climate experts.
