The United Nations expressed grave concern over the ongoing clashes across Sudan between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), warning of their serious repercussions for civilians and the worsening humanitarian crisis in the country.UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric noted at a press conference that the escalation of attacks on populated areas in the capital, Khartoum, and the city of Omdurman.’We once again remind all parties of their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure and to take all feasible measures to avoid harming them,’ Dujarric said.He also said that the ongoing clashes, in addition to funding cuts by major donors, have severely disrupted health services in Sudan, particularly in the Darfur region.Dujarric stressed that approximately 58,000 people in North Kordofan, including displaced persons, returnees, and residents, are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. He called on the international community to intensify support for the humanitarian response in Sudan, including increased funding, ensuring the protection of civilians and aid workers, and ensuring safe access to those in need.
