Pilot killed in firefighting helicopter crash while fighting wildfires in South Korea

A pilot was killed on Wednesday when a firefighting helicopter crashed while helping extinguish wildfire in the town of Uiseong, southeastern South Korea.The helicopter crashed into a mountain in Uiseong, 180 kilometers southeast of Seoul, Yonhap news agency reported, citing the Korea Forest Service.Authorities stated that the cause of the accident is still under investigation, without providing further details about the circumstances of the fall or any other potential damage.South Korean authorities had previously announced that 18 people had been killed, 19 injured, and 23,000 evacuated due to wildfires causing unprecedented damage in the southeast of the country. Thousands of firefighters have been working to contain the fires for days.
