Due to the weather, the Abu Dhabi Police earlier today reduced the Al Ain-Dubai road’s speed restriction. Drivers were not permitted to exceed 120 kph. The posted speed restriction was reinstated about six o’clock.
The National Meteorology Centre (NCM) recorded rainfall of varying intensities in the area, prompting Al Ain to issue an orange alert. While Al Hiyar had light rainfall, Malaqit experienced heavy rain. It was predicted that the erratic weather would remain till 8 o’clock.
Vehicles are seen splashing through water in Al Hiyar in a video uploaded by the weather monitoring account Storm Centre.
On Thursday, when Sharjah reported severe rain and hail, similar weather conditions were observed in some other regions of the nation.
These wet days are a blessing for many locals during the sweltering summer months. Safety should always take first, the officials have emphasized. When going outside amid erratic weather, locals are reminded to exercise greater vigilance.
