Etihad Rail has released a video update showcasing its Dubai route, providing insights into the impressive infrastructure of the project. This ambitious UAE megaproject is set to revolutionize transportation within the country, benefiting both passengers and trade and logistics sectors.
The video, shared on Etihad Rail’s Twitter page, offers a glimpse of two prominent bridges within the Dubai network: Al Qudra Bridge and Expo Bridge. Al Qudra Bridge, the longest bridge along the main line, spans over 610 meters and was constructed using 15,000 cubic meters of concrete and 4,000 tonnes of steel. The Expo Bridge, featured in the video as well, measures around 319 meters in length and required over 7,310 cubic meters of concrete, almost 1,950 tonnes of steel, and more than 40 ground supports for its construction.
The video concludes by showcasing the cargo terminal located in Dubai Industrial City, a vast area covering 5.5 million square meters. This terminal will play a crucial role in facilitating efficient freight operations within the network.

In February of this year, Etihad Rail made the exciting announcement that its freight network had become fully operational. This freight line comprises an impressive fleet of 38 locomotives and over 1,000 wagons, enabling efficient transportation of goods across the country.
The freight network connects four major ports and seven logistics centers throughout the UAE, facilitating seamless movement of cargo. However, the benefits of the project extend beyond just the freight industry. Commuters are among the key beneficiaries, as the network alleviates traffic congestion and offers significant social and environmental advantages.
Gottfried Eymer, the CEO of the Etihad Rail freight network, emphasized the positive impact on people’s lives during his speech at the Middle East Rail conference in May. He highlighted that the network replaces the need for 300 lorries with just one train driver, reducing traffic congestion and wait times. By shifting freight transportation from roads to railways, Etihad Rail not only enhances efficiency but also contributes to creating more accessible and less congested streets for daily road transport.
Overall, the operational freight network of Etihad Rail brings tangible benefits to both the freight industry and the community at large, improving transportation efficiency and positively impacting social and environmental aspects of the UAE’s infrastructure.
