The activities were designed to increase the youth’s skills and understanding about emerging technology and clean, renewable energy. As part of the Ministry of Community Development’s “Meeting Across Generations” campaign, the Center organized an awareness event titled “Sustainable Energy for Future Generations.” In order to increase their understanding of ways to improve sustainability in the environmental, social, and economic aspects, a number of older residents and young people attended the session. The presentation highlighted the UAE’s and Dubai’s pioneering work in converting to clean and renewable energy sources.
Together with the Federal Youth Authority and the Youth Council of DEWA, the Center also hosted a panel discussion. The conversation centered on preparing young people for the future by teaching them skills in entrepreneurship, sustainability, green economy, and digital transformation. Participants included experts from the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO), the Dubai Future Foundation, and Moro Hub, a division of Digital DEWA.
“The youth, in our opinion at DEWA, represent the country’s actual riches, national investment, and a cornerstone of the UAE’s progress toward prosperity and development. In order to achieve comprehensive and sustainable growth, we abide by the orders of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. This is in line with Dubai’s goals to generate all of the city’s electricity from clean sources by the year 2050 and to achieve net zero carbon emissions.”
“We are aware of our national obligation to educate and prepare the youth by giving them access to the required data, expertise, knowledge, science, and technology. We make investments in their capacities and motivate them to develop creative and innovative solutions that quicken the transitions to a green economy and an innovative energy sector.”
“We are devoted to the UAE’s leading model of encouraging youngsters to take the initiative in tackling climate change. As the nation prepares to host COP 28 at Expo City Dubai at the end of this year, the UAE has placed the youth at the center of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP) for the first time since its founding.”
