The high-speed train that runs between Madinah and Makkah will now make more daily excursions, according to the Saudi Railways Authority.
Al Haramain Express will make 126 daily trips with 1.5 million pilgrims during this Haj season. With the help of the service, pilgrims can reach the holy towns in just two hours and 20 minutes.
Al Haramain Express, which was introduced in 2018, operates between Makkah and Madinah at a speed of 300 km/h.
The railways announced that their operational plans for moving the pilgrims had been completed.
Rayan Al Harbi, executive vice president of the Saudi Railways Company for the Haramain Express, verified that all operational preparations put in place by the organization for the 2018 Haj season have been completed and turned on. Buses specifically designed to transport pilgrims connect Haramain Express train trips, he noted.
During the most recent Ramadan season, Haramain Express carried more than 800,000 passengers with a punctuality accuracy of over 95%.
