KidsRights warns of dangers of social media on children’s mental health

KidsRights Foundation has warned of a worsening mental health crisis among children and adolescents around the world, noting that the uncontrolled expansion of social media has contributed to the crisis reaching a critical point.A report by the Dutch organization, prepared in collaboration with Erasmus University, showed that more than 14% of adolescents between the ages of 10 and 19 suffer from mental health problems, with a global suicide rate of 6 cases per 100,000 young people between the ages of 15 and 19.The report highlighted the relationship between digital addiction and deteriorating mental health, particularly in Europe, where 39% of adolescents aged 15 regularly use social media. Several European countries have called for regulating children's use of digital platforms.
