Total tariffs on China now stands at 145% – White House

The US tariff rate on Chinese imports now effectively totals 145%, the White House said.A White House official confirmed to CNBC on Thursday that the US tariff rate on Chinese imports now effectively totals 145%, as 125% tariff comes on top of a 20% fentanyl-related tariff that were previously imposed on China. The 145% duties apply across all goods imported from China, the official clarified. In addition, the US continues to maintain 25% tariffs on aluminum, automobiles, and imports from Canada and Mexico that fall outside the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), along with 105 customs duties on all other global imports. The announcement comes a day after US President Donald Trump declared a 90-day suspension of new tariffs on several other countries, opting instead to raise tariffs on Chinese imports from 104% to 125%.
