US President threatens China with up to 50 percent tariffs

US President Donald Trump threatened today to impose additional tariffs of up to 50 percent on China ‘if it does not roll back its retaliatory tariffs.’In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote that China issued Retaliatory Tariffs of 34 percent,’ adding, ‘If China does not withdraw its 34 percent increase above their already long term trading abuses by tomorrow, April 8th, 2025, the United States will impose ADDITIONAL Tariffs on China of 50 percent.”Additionally, all talks with China concerning their requested meetings with us will be terminated! Negotiations with other countries, which have also requested meetings, will begin taking place immediately,’ trump added.Last week, Trump imposed additional 34 percent tariffs on Chinese goods as part of tariffs imposed on most of the United States' trading partners, and Beijing responded with countermeasures
