The Russian Foreign Ministry Saturday said that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a phone conversation, during which they agreed to enhance cooperation on settling issues relating to Ukraine, the Middle East, and other regional matters, in addition to discussing preparations for a potential high-level Russian-American summit.The ministry noted that this interaction was held at the initiative of the American side and said that both sides agreed to organize expert-level meetings in the near future to coordinate specific steps towards removing obstacles to the functioning of diplomatic missions in Russia and the United States.Lavrov and Rubio also reaffirmed their readiness to restore a respectful and constructive interstate dialogue and agreed to maintain an open channel of communication to address longstanding issues in Russian-American relations.
