Trump says hopeful for talks with Russia, China on Ukraine, defense spending cut

US President Donald Trump said he wants to hold talks with both Russian president Vladimir Putin and Chinese president Xi Jinping.Trump said he would start with conversations with the two leaders, and potentially move to a trilateral meeting.The move comes after his agreement with Putin to start peace talks on the Ukrainian crisis.He added that China would play a role in ending the war in Ukraine, noting that the results of the negotiations are still unclear.The US president also stressed his aspirations the three nations would talk a mutual defense spending reduction and called for Russia's G7 return, in reference to the importance of Moscow's involvement in the global economic and political stage.Yet, he did not specify a time frame for the aspired talks.
