Nearly six million people in Somalia need humanitarian aid in 2025 : UN

The UN warned that about 6 million people in Somalia will need humanitarian aid this year, as the UN launched an appeal to raise USD 1.43 billion.The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in a statement that ‘Somalia continues to face a complex, protracted humanitarian crisis,’ pointing out that a range of issues are further complicating the crisis, including ‘climate shocks.”The country is now experiencing widespread dry conditions following poor October to December rains,’ OCHA added.The statement indicated that the funding appeal launched last Monday with the Somali government ‘aims to support some 4.6 million of the most vulnerable people in the country.’ (
