114 Killed, 82 Injured, 127 Missing Due to Typhoon Kalmaegi in the Philippines

Philippine authorities announced on Thursday that the death toll from Typhoon Kalmaegi, which struck the central part of the country, has risen.The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said in a statement carried by the Philippine News Agency that 114 people were killed and 82 others were injured as a result of the typhoon.The statement added that 127 people were reported missing, and that nearly 2 million people were affected by the typhoon.On average, about 20 typhoons and tropical storms hit or come near the Philippines each year, bringing heavy rain, strong winds and deadly landslides.
