Russian authorities announced today the suspension of flights at several airports across the country.The Federal Air Transport Agency of the Russian Federation (Rosaviatsiya) confirmed in a statement the cancellation of 171 arrivals and departures at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, in addition to the suspension of 56 flights.The statement continued: ‘As of 6:00 PM Moscow time, 90 flights from Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg have been suspended, and 37 departures have been delayed for more than two hours.’Rosaviatsiya explained in its statement that the restrictions are being implemented to ensure flight safety, which is a priority for all companies in the sector without exception. It added that currently, six airports are temporarily suspended: Ivanovo (Yuzhny), Kaluga (Grabtsevo), Pskov, St. Petersburg (Pulkovo), Tambov (Donskoy), and Moscow (Sheremetyevo).The agency noted that the situation is under control and that the Russian air transport system is operating at high efficiency.
