Seventy-eight people were killed in Himachal Pradesh, northern India, due to monsoon rains on June 20, while rescue teams continue to search for missing people.
The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority stated that 50 victims died in accidents caused by landslides and flash floods, while 28 others died in traffic accidents linked to severe weather conditions.
Mandi district recorded the highest number of deaths with 17, followed by Kangra with 11. The state's infrastructure suffered significant losses, in addition to significant damage to the agricultural, residential, educational, and health sectors.
As part of relief efforts, Indian authorities have dispatched disaster response teams to the most affected areas, including Mandi and Kullu, where searches are still underway for missing persons.
