G7 condemns Iran’s attack on Al Udeid Air Base

The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) strongly condemned the Iranian attack on Al Udeid Air Base on Jun. 23, expressing their full solidarity with the State of Qatar.This statement was issued in a joint communiqué following the G7 foreign ministers' meeting in The Hague. The group includes the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom, along with the High Representative of the European Union.The statement praised the State of Qatar's crucial role in facilitating the ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, as announced by the United States. It also urged all parties to refrain from actions that could escalate tensions or destabilize the region.The G7 reiterated its firm opposition to Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, calling on Tehran to halt unjustified uranium enrichment activities and resume negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive, lasting, and verifiable agreement on its nuclear program.Furthermore, the statement urged Iran to fully and promptly cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), grant inspectors access, and provide verifiable information on all nuclear materials within its territory.It emphasized the importance of upholding the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons as the cornerstone of the global non-proliferation regime, stressing that Iran must fully comply with the treaty and implement its obligations effectively.The G7 foreign ministers concluded their statement by reaffirming their commitment to supporting security and stability in the Middle East.
