France expects EU to soon approve new sanctions package against Russia

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot expressed his country's expectation that the European Union (EU) will reach an agreement on the 18th package of sanctions imposed on Russia, noting that it will take place ‘in the coming days, because the negotiations are nearing completion.’Barrow explained in televised statements that ‘Europe has been coordinating its efforts on the subject with American senators,’ as part of joint efforts to increase pressure on Moscow.During the last meeting, the adoption of the 18th package of sanctions by the EU has been blocked by Slovakia, according to diplomatic sources.Discussions are expected to continue over the coming days to resolve the differences and reach a final decision.
