Russia announced today that the ongoing Israeli attacks on Iran's peaceful nuclear sites were illegal and pushing the world toward a nuclear catastrophe. In a statement issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it said that the reaction from the majority of countries around the world to the Israeli strikes on Iranian territory, along with the outcomes of the emergency UN Security Council meeting on Jun. 13 and the special session of the IAEA Board of Governors on Jun. 16, prove that Israel's aggressive approach and acts of sabotage are only understood and supported by countries that are actively participating in them or motivated by short-term interests.Moscow called on Israel to immediately cease its attacks on nuclear facilities and sites under IAEA safeguards and verification measures. It warned that the ongoing, intensified Israeli strikes on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities represent unacceptable threats to international security and are pushing the world toward a nuclear disaster whose consequences will be felt everywhere, including in Israel itself.Israel had launched airstrikes early last Friday targeting nuclear and military installations in Iran, resulting in the deaths of senior military commanders and nuclear scientists, as well as several civilian casualties. In response, Iran launched missile and drone attacks on locations in the occupied territories, raising fears of a wider confrontation that could threaten regional stability.
