French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed on Friday that the recognition of a Palestinian state, under specific conditions, is ‘not only a moral duty, but a political requirement.’Speaking at a joint press conference in Singapore, Macron warned that if Israel fails to ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, France and the European Union may be compelled to ‘harden their collective position,’ potentially including sanctions.Macron also reiterated France's firm support for a two-state solution, emphasizing that it remains the only viable path to lasting peace.France and Saudi Arabia will co-chair an international conference on the two-state solution, scheduled to take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from in June.
