Foreign Minister of Malaysia Mohamad Hasan condemned the siege of the Gaza Strip and the mass deaths and atrocities committed against the Palestinian people, which reflect indifference and double standards, a direct result of the erosion of the sanctity of international law.During the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers' Meeting held Sunday on the sidelines of the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian Foreign Minister said that ASEAN cannot remain silent, calling for speaking out on behalf of the oppressed, and stressing that the voice of ASEAN countries must be used to defend human values and international justice.He pointed out that the world is witnessing profound transformations, including climate change and economic and technological challenges, which require ASEAN countries to adopt a unified stance based on solidarity and regional economic integration to address growth disparities and counter the negative impacts of global trade tensions.In a related context, during the 29th meeting of the ASEAN Political and Security Community Council, the Malaysian Foreign Minister indicated that the progress made in implementing the ASEAN 2025 Plan forms the basis for launching the ASEAN Vision 2045, calling for strengthening the region's ability to adapt to cross-border geopolitical and economic crises, particularly cybercrime and digital fraud.He also highlighted the importance of collective action to build a more robust and resilient regional system based on information exchange and coordination of legal frameworks. He emphasized that the association's new strategic vision will enhance member states' ability to address accelerating challenges, including artificial intelligence, climate change, and rising sea levels.
