Turkiye plans to export 6 million cubic meters of natural gas daily to Syria

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced that Turkiye plans to export 6 million cubic meters of natural gas per day to Syria.In an interview with CNN Turk, Bayraktar stated that the total annual volume of gas exports to Syria is expected to reach 2 billion cubic meters, which will be used for electricity generation inside the country.He noted that infrastructure work for the natural gas pipeline had already begun on the Syrian side, with gas being transferred from Turkiye's Kilis province to the Syrian city of Aleppo.The minister stated that the gas will be used in Aleppo's power plant, and they aim to begin gas flow within three months.Bayraktar also revealed that Turkiye has begun supplying electricity to Syria, currently providing about 200 megawatts to the city of Aleppo.He emphasized that one of Turkiye's priorities is contributing to restoring normal life in Syria, highlighting that the country's infrastructure has suffered extensive damage due to the ongoing 13-year war.Syria continues to face severe challenges in the electricity sector, with many power plants damaged during the conflict, resulting in prolonged outages across various regions.
