France announces additional EURO 2 billion in military aid to Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron announced Wednesday his country's intention to provide an additional EURO 2 billion in military aid to Ukraine.This came at a press conference following a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, who is visiting France.The French president called on Russia to accept a 30-day ceasefire without ‘preconditions,’ accusing Moscow of demonstrating a ‘desire for war’ and adding ‘new conditions’ to the US-brokered agreement to de-escalate the situation in the Black Sea and suspend strikes targeting energy facilities.Last week, the European Union (EU) announced its intention to provide additional financial aid to Ukraine worth EURO1 billion (USD1.1 billion), in the form of a loan to be repaid using proceeds from frozen Russian assets in the EU.
