Pakistani military announces elimination of 10 militants in Northwest Pakistan

The Pakistani military announced today that it had killed 10 militants during a security operation in the northwest of the country.The military explained in a statement that its forces carried out the operation based on intelligence information about the movement of militants in the town of Jandola in the Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.On Wednesday, Pakistani forces announced the killing of 27 militants and the wounding of several others who had attacked the Jaffar Express train in the Dehdar area of the Bolan Corridor in Balochistan, western Pakistan, and were holding passengers hostage.On Tuesday, militants in southwest Pakistan announced that they had taken 182 hostages, including military personnel and security officials, during their attack on an express train en route from Quetta in Balochistan province to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. They threatened to kill them if security forces did not leave their area. Pakistani authorities, police, and railway officials reported that the train, carrying approximately 400 passengers, was ambushed inside a tunnel, and its conductor was seriously injured.
