US President Donald Trump has threatened to double US tariffs on Canadian goods, suggesting again that Canada should join the United States.’Please explain to Governor Trudeau, of Canada, that when he puts on a Retaliatory Tariff on the US, our Reciprocal Tariff will immediately increase by a like amount!’ Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.Trump has previously spoken of a proposal for Canada to become the 51st US state.This comes after the Canadian Prime Minister announced a 25% tariff on American products will be imposed, in response to Trump imposing similar tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada.
