French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou said Friday in press remarks he wants military spending exempted from EU budget rules.Under the EU spending rules, the bloc's members are obliged to keep the public deficit below three percent of economic output and debt at 60 percent of GDP.The French parliament is scheduled to discuss the situation in Ukraine and security in Europe next week, with the National Assembly (parliament) discussing these two files on Monday, while the Senate will discuss them on Tuesday. In 2024, France's public deficit was around six percent of GDP, which Bayrou's government aims to bring down to 5.4 percent in 2025.
