New UN Envoy vows efforts to resolve Libya crisis

UN Envoy to Libya Hanna Serwaa Tetteh affirmed the UN mission will continue working tirelessly to support and empower Libyan institutions to hold inclusive national elections, and develop a collective national vision to address their longstanding challenges facing.In a statement, the UN envoy said that this will not be an easy task, but working together makes it possible and that she would spare no effort to achieve peace and stability for Libya and its people.Tetteh emphasized the UN's unwavering commitment to supporting Libya in becoming a prosperous, stable, and democratic nation, pledging to work closely with Libyans and the international community to achieve this goal.Earlier, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announced her arrival in Tripoli to officially assume her duties as the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and UNSMIL Head.In January, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appointed Tetteh as his Special Representative for Libya and UNSMIL Head, succeeding Abdoulaye Bathily, who held the position until May 2024.
