Multinational Pakistan naval exercises conclude today

The AMAN-25 multinational naval exercises which conclude in Karachi today, followed the participation of 60 nations, once again reinforcing the global community’s collective resolve to promote peace and co-operation in the maritime domain.Since its inception in 2007, AMAN has been held biennially under the theme “Together for Peace”, bringing together naval forces, aircraft, and special operations units in a collaborative effort to enhance security and interoperability. This year, the exercise introduced a groundbreaking addition — the inaugural AMAN Dialogue — designed to address pressing security challenges in the Indian Ocean. With the theme “Secure Seas, Prosperous Future”, the dialogue highlighted issues such as strategic competition, piracy, narco-trafficking, non-state actors, resource exploitation, climate change, artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, and the blue economy. The initiative underscored the urgent need for international collaboration to tackle these evolving threats and ensure a stable maritime environment. The AMAN-25 exercise is structured into two key phases: the harbour phase, held from February 7-9, and the sea phase, from February 10-11. The harbour phase includes professional discussions, ship visits, and maritime counterterrorism demonstrations by Pakistan’s Special Service Group (SSG) and Marine units. The sea phase features search-and-rescue operations, live weapon firings, and an international fleet review, showcasing a synchronised display of multinational naval collaboration. The International Fleet Review, scheduled for today, will serve as a grand culmination of the exercise, bringing together special operations forces, explosive ordnance disposal teams, and marine units to refine multinational responses to asymmetric threats.
