US President signs orders to Wwthdraw from UNRWA, Human Rights Council

US President Donald Trump signed two executive orders on Tuesday to withdraw from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).Trump had previously withdrawn from the UNHRC during his first term, citing its ‘biased positions.’He also signed another order to withdraw from UNRWA, which the US is the largest donor to, providing up to $400 million annually. Former President Joe Biden suspended funding in January 2024 following alleged accusations from Israel against UNRWA employees during the Gaza offensive.Following Biden's decision, Congress suspended its contributions to UNRWA until March 2025, before Trump decided to withdraw completely and stop supporting it.
