These changes reaffirm nation's commitment to preserving its rich heritage and ensuring future generations honor the legacy of its heroes and historical landmarks.The peak, previously known as Mount McKinley in honor of former President William McKinley, was renamed Denali in 1975 at the request of Alaska.President Donald Trump ordered the name changes as part of a series of executive actions taken just hours after assuming office on Monday, delivering on a campaign promise.
