US Senate confirms John Ratcliffe as CIA Director

The US Senate confirmed John Ratcliffe today as the Director of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).Ratcliffe becomes the first person in US history to hold both positions of Director of National Intelligence and CIA Director.In his confirmation, Ratcliffe, who served as Director of National Intelligence from 2020 to 2021 under Trump administration, pledged to eliminate political biases within intelligence community, focusing on improving the agency's efficiency and professionalism to better serve its core mission.Ratcliffes confirmation paves the way for the Senate to vote on the appointment of Pete Hegseth, nominated to be the Secretary of Defense under Trump. The Senate Intelligence Committee endorsed Ratcliffe's nomination with a strong vote of 14-3, showing clear support for his appointment.
