US will maintain presence in Eastern Syria, says Pentagon

The United States Department of Defense (Pentagon) has asserted that it will maintain its presence in eastern Syria to ensure defeating ISIS group, with an official source in the Pentagon emphasizing the importance of consistent coordination with regional partners to monitor the developments.The Department of Defense called on parties in Syria to protect the civilians, especially minorities, in addition to respecting international standards and working to have a comprehensive political settlement.The Syrian opposition declared Sunday that it had liberated Damascus, overthrowing the Syrian regime led by Bashar Al Assad, and releasing all detainees.
